The first crusade was started by Pope Urban II in 1095. The goal of the first crusade was the conquer the Holy Land and the city of Jerusalem

Therefore they had to go by land they traveled from France through Italy then through to Italy, then Eastern Europe and then through what is now called Turkey. During this journey the crusades ran out of fresh water, some even had to drink their own urine, drinking animal blood and Food was bought from local people but it was to expensive. By 1097, nearly 10,000 people had gathered at Constantinople ready for the journey to the holy land.

After the attack from the first crusade the city of Tyre did not surrender the city to Zahir al-Din Atabek.
